UNIDADES DE CONSERVAÇÃO ESTADUAIS DO CEARÁ

As Unidades de Conservação (UC) são espaços territoriais detentores de atributos naturais, históricos e culturais com objetivos de conservação e limites definidos, criadas e protegidas pelo poder público e também, por particulares. Juntas, formam um mosaico variado de belezas naturais, diversidade biológica e identidade regional. Essas áreas protegidas possuem desafios de gestão ligados às pressões urbanas e à falta de consciência ambiental, obstáculos que são enfrentados com programas educacionais, fiscalização contínua, estímulo ao ecoturismo e apoio à pesquisa. As Unidades de Conservação integrantes do Sistema Estadual (SEUC) dividem-se em dois grupos: proteção integral e uso sustentável. As Unidades de proteção integral têm o objetivo de preservar a natureza e admitem o uso indireto de seus recursos. Já as Unidades de uso sustentável buscam compatibilizar a conservação com o uso sustentável desses recursos naturais.

 

Conservation Units in the State of Ceará (Brazil)

 

Conservation Units (CU) are territorial spaces endowed with natural, historical, and cultural attributes, established and protected by the government as well as by private individuals, with defined conservation objectives and boundaries. Together, they form a diverse mosaic of natural beauty, biological diversity, and regional identity. These protected areas face management challenges associated with urban pressures and a lack of environmental awareness, obstacles that are addressed through educational programs, continuous monitoring, promotion of ecotourism, and support for research. Conservation Units that are part of the State System (SS) are divided into two groups: integral protection and sustainable use. Units with integral protection aim to preserve nature and allow for the indirect use of their resources. On the other hand, units with sustainable use seek to reconcile conservation with the sustainable use of natural resources.

Types of Conservation Units

 

ÁREA DE PROTEÇÃO AMBIENTAL (APA)

São áreas com certo grau de ocupação humana, dotadas de atributos ambientais importantes para a qualidade de vida e bem- -estar da população. Seu objetivo é proteger a diversidade biológica, além de disciplinar a ocupação e assegurar o uso sustentável dos recursos naturais.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AREA (EPA)

These are areas with a certain degree of human occupation, endowed with environmental attributes important for the quality of life and well-being of the population. Their objective is to protect biological diversity, regulate occupation, and ensure the sustainable use of natural resources.

 

ÁREA DE RELEVANTE INTERESSE ECOLÓGICO (ARIE)
Em geral de pequena extensão, são marcadas por atributos naturais de grande singularidade. Podem abrigar espécies raras da fauna e flora regionais, com pouca ou nenhuma ocupação humana. As ARIE promovem a manutenção dos ecossistemas naturais e sua regulação em conformidade com objetivos de conservação da natureza.

AREA OF RELEVANT ECOLOGICAL INTEREST (AREI)

Generally of small extent, these areas are marked by natural attributes of great uniqueness. They may harbor rare species of regional fauna and flora, with little or no human occupation. AREIs promote the maintenance of natural ecosystems and their regulation in accordance with conservation objectives.

 

ESTAÇÃO ECOLÓGICA (ESEC)
Área terrestre ou marinha instituída pelo poder público tendo como objetivos a preservação da natureza e a realização de pesquisas científicas. No seu território é proibido o consumo, a supressão e o dano de recursos, visto tratar-se de uma Unidade de Conservação do grupo de proteção integral. As atividades científicas e educativas devem seguir o que dispuser o Plano de Manejo, além das normas e regulamentos da Unidade.

ECOLOGICAL STATION (ES)

A terrestrial or marine area established by the government with the objectives of nature preservation and scientific research. Consumption, suppression, and damage to resources are prohibited within its territory, as it is a Conservation Unit of the integral protection group. Scientific and educational activities must comply with the Management Plan, as well as the unit’s rules and regulations.

 

MONUMENTO NATURAL (MONA)
Área com sítios naturais raros, singulares ou de grande beleza cênica. Em seu interior é permitida a presença de propriedade particular, desde que o proprietário desenvolva ações compatíveis com os objetivos da UC. Da mesma forma, a visitação pública está sujeita às condições e restrições estabelecidas pelo Plano de Manejo do MONA, assim como as previstas em regulamentos.

NATURAL MONUMENT (NAMO)

An area with rare, unique, or scenically beautiful natural sites. Private property is allowed within, provided that the owner undertakes actions compatible with the objectives of the Conservation Unit. Similarly, public visitation is subject to conditions and restrictions established by the NAMO Management Plan, as well as those outlined in regulations.

 

PARQUE ESTADUAL (PARES)
O Parque Estadual é de posse e domínio públicos, sendo que as áreas particulares incluídas em seus limites devem ser desapropriadas. A pesquisa científica depende de autorização prévia do responsável por sua administração. Já a visitação pública está sujeita às restrições estabelecidas no Plano de Manejo, bem como às suas normas e regulamentos.

STATE PARK (SP)

The State Park is publicly owned, and private areas within its boundaries must be expropriated. Scientific research requires prior authorization from the responsible authority. Public visitation is subject to the restrictions established in the Management Plan, as well as its rules and regulations.

 

REFÚGIO DA VIDA SILVESTRE (REVIS)
Faz parte do grupo de proteção integral, com o objetivo de proteger ambientes naturais, assegurando condições para a existência ou reprodução de espécies ou comunidades da flora local e da fauna residente ou migratória. Pode ser constituído por áreas particulares, desde que seja possível compatibilizar os objetivos da unidade com os interesses dos proprietários.

WILDLIFE REFUGE (WR)

Part of the integral protection group, with the aim of protecting natural environments, ensuring conditions for the existence or reproduction of species or communities of local flora and resident or migratory fauna. It can include private areas, provided that the objectives of the unit can match to the interests of the owners.
